Air-Fried Okra

I must admit - I’ve never cooked okra before! So it was fun to experiment with it and get outside of my routine. I kept it pretty simple with an egg wash and breadcrumbs but it would be easy to add in some spice to the breadcrumbs to kick it up a notch.


My over arching message here- besides give this okra a try - next time you go shopping pick up a new fruit or veggie you’ve never eaten or cooked with before! Sure you could hate it, but you could also learn a new recipe or discover something delicious in the process!


Okra - you decide how much you want!

1 Egg

Flour for coating

Panko breadcrumbs

Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Wash/dry okra and remove ends

  2. Chop into bite size chunks. I cut each into 4 segments

  3. Prepare dredging station by placing out three bowls one with flour, one with egg, one with breadcrumbs

  4. Season breadcrumbs with salt and pepper

  5. Coat okra chunks in flour, then egg wash then breadcrumbs

  6. Place in a single later in air fryer and fry on medium-high setting for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Enjoy on their own or dipped into your favorite condiment. I used a curry mustard and a honey BBQ sauce.
